Wiper Blade Contact Angle, Adjusting

NOTE:
- The following procedure is not applicable to the "Aero-wiper" wiper arm/blade design installed as a running change during m.y. 2002.
- Check wiper blade contact angle on conventional blades (through m.y. 2001) only if wiper blades skip, judder or make
noise.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items needed







- Wiper arm setting device -3358-
- 24 mm open end wrench
- Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (0-50 ft lb)

Adjusting
- Bring wiper arm to park position.
- Remove wiper blade.







- Place wiper arm -2- in wiper arm adjusting tool -3358- and secure with locking screw -3-
- Check contact angle

Contact angle (specification)
Driver's side - 3 degrees
Passenger's side - 5 degrees
Rear windshield wiper 0 degrees
Tolerance ± 2 degrees

Adjust contact angle to specification, if required, as follows:







- Place 24 mm open end wrench-1- on setting device and adjust wiper arm -2- to specification -arrows-.
- Release wiper arm -2- from adjusting tool and secure with locking screw -3-.
- Compare value set with table. Repeat adjustment and check sequence until specifications are achieved.
- Remove setting device and install wiper blade.

Wiper arm tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lb)
- Check that wiper system operates without skipping.
