Shift mechanism, removing and installing, 01A, 5 SPD. M/T (AWD)

Removing
^ Carefully pry off cover from center console.
^ Remove shift knob with cover.





^ Rubber cover for shift mechanism housing must be unscrewed - arrows -.





^ Remove mounting nuts for shift mechanism housing - arrows -.
^ Disconnect exhaust system behind catalytic converter, remove front exhaust system if necessary.





Remove shift mechanism from transmission as follows:
^ Remove shift rod - arrow A -.
^ Remove shift rod, to do so remove socket head bolt - arrow B -.
^ Remove front shielding plate over exhaust system.
^ Swing shift mechanism housing together with shift rod and pivot rod downward and remove.

Installing
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.

Adjust shift mechanism.
