Sealing Rings For Flanged Shafts, Replacing

Sealing rings for flanged shafts, replacing, 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)

Removing





^ Remove shielding plate from final drive - arrows -.
^ Unbolt left drive axle and tie up.
^ Place drip tray V.A.G. 1306 underneath.





^ Unscrew securing bolt for flanged shaft, to do so screw two bolts in flange and counterhold flanged shaft using a lever.
^ Pull out flanged shaft.





^ Pry out sealing ring using suitable lever.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
^ Coat outer circumference and sealing lips of sealing ring with axle oil.
^ Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease G052128A1.





^ Drive new seal in as far as the stop; be sure not to distort seal.
^ Insert flanged shaft.





^ Screw in bolt for flanged shaft and secure against turning using a drift.

Install drive axle to flanged shaft.

Shielding plate to rear final drive.

^ Check gear oil in rear final drive.
