Clutch Pedal and Over-Center Spring, Removing and Installing
Clutch pedal and over-center spring, removing and installing, 01A, 5 SPD. M/T (AWD)
Removing
^ Remove storage compartment on drivers side.
Make sure that Clutch Pedal Switch F36 - arrow - is not pressed out of retaining clip. If the switch is pressed out the threads will be damaged and the switch must be replaced.
In order to assure sufficiently secure seating, clutch pedal switch - arrow - must not be installed more than once.
^ Disconnect clutch pedal from master cylinder. To do so, pry out circlip using screwdriver - arrow 1 - and pull out bolt - arrow 2 -.
^ Press clutch pedal securing clip - arrow 1 - off pivot pin using a screwdriver.
^ Remove bolt - arrow 2 -.
^ Press clutch and brake pedal pivot pin toward right, until clutch pedal can be removed.
^ If necessary, press brake pedal securing clip off pivot pin using screwdriver.
^ Remove clutch pedal and over-center spring.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
^ Align clutch pivot pin and brake pedal so that it protrudes out of mounting bracket on clutch pedal side - arrow -.
^ Press clutch pedal to stop and insert over-center spring into mount on clutch pedal.
^ Connect clutch pedal to pivot pin and press it toward left until securing clip can be installed.
^ Connect master cylinder to clutch pedal and engage bolt lock in clutch pedal.
^ Tighten bolt - arrow 2 - if both securing clips ( - arrow 1 - ) for clutch pedal, securing clip for brake pedal (not depicted) are installed on pivot pin for clutch pedal/brake pedal.
^ Adjust Clutch Pedal Switch F36.
