Additional ATF Check For Vehicles With Auxiliary ATF Cooler
Additional ATF check for vehicles with auxiliary ATF cooler, 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)
This test must be performed after auxiliary ATF cooler has been emptied or when it has been replaced.
Test requirements:
^ All electrical consumers and A/C system must be switched off.
^ ATF is filled up
^ Vehicle is level
^ Selector lever in "P", let engine run at idle.
^ Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS5051 A.
^ Connect tester VAS5051 A using diagnostic cable VAS5051/1 or VAS5051/3 to Data Link Connector (DLC) with ignition switched off and advance program until "Function4component selection" is displayed.
^ Then press "Powertrain (Repair Group 01; 10 to 26; 28 to 39)".
^ After that, press "6 Spd. Automatic Transmission 09F".
^ Press "Functions".
^ Press "Check ATF level".
^ Press -> button.
At start of test, ATF temperature must not be more than 30°C.
^ Start engine.
^ Raise vehicle.
^ Place drip tray V.A.G. 1306 underneath.
^ Press -> button.
^ Bring ATF to test temperature.
The top display field displays the ATF temperature.
^ Start engine.
^ Raise vehicle.
^ Let engine run until ATF temperature has reached at least 85°C, a road test may be necessary to reach this temperature.
The thermostat at the opening for the auxiliary ATF cooler does not open until 80°C so that the cooler can fill up with ATF
^ Bring ATF to test temperature.
test temperature: at least 85°C
^ Shut the engine off and allow ATF to cool until the temperature drops below 30°C.
^ Then check ATF level and top off.
