Selector Mechanism, Disassembling and Assembling, Assembly Overview



Selector mechanism, disassembling and assembling, assembly overview, 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Polycarbamide grease G052142A2

Lubricate bearing areas and slide surfaces with polycarbamide grease G052142A2.





1. Selector lever handle
2. Sleeve
^ Engages in selector lever knob
^ Locks the removal of selector lever handle
^ Installation position: Chamfer faces rear

3. Selector cover
^ Remove upward
^ Disconnect connector for shift positions, selector lever lock and Tiptronic

4. Guide sleeve
^ Installation position: Engage foot toward rear

5. Cover molding
^ cannot be replaced separately

6. Recess panel
^ cannot be replaced separately

7. Symbol panel
^ with circuit board
^ with Tiptronic Switch F189 integrated in circuit board
^ cannot be replaced separately

8. Cover strip
^ with 2 magnets for Tiptronic Switch F189 and gear display
^ Magnets must be secured firmly to cover strip

9. Guide + guides cover strip
10. Bushing
11. Locking clip
^ Installation position: Install with angled ends pointing towards the inside of the selector lever mechanism housing
^ Always replace

12. Pull-rod
13. Spring
14. Selector lever
^ with pull-rod, compression spring, gate and Tiptronic-spring system

15. Stop buffer
^ Installation position: Large contact surface toward selector lever

16. Retainer

18. Retaining spring with roller
^ For shift positions

19. Retaining spring with roller
^ For Tiptronic position

20. Frame
^ Installation position: Ribs point upward

21. Nut, 10 Nm
22. Selector lever mechanism housing

23. Pivot pin

^ for shift lock solenoid

25. Shift Lock Solenoid N110
^ can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the VAS5051 A

26. Pivot pin
27. Cover

29. Retaining clip
^ Installation position: install angled end toward front and upward

30. Locking clip
^ Installation position: Angled end points toward the end of the selector lever cable.
^ Always replace

31. Selector lever cable
^ do not bend or kink; lightly grease coupling ring and ball socket before installing
^ in case of damaged rubber boots, the selector lever cable must be replaced
^ When installing, make sure that rubber sleeve on transmission side is not twisted

32. Hex bolt, 23 Nm
33. Support bracket
^ For selector lever cable on transmission

34. Bracket
^ For locking cable

35. Cable clip
^ For locking cable

36. Ignition/starter switch
37. Locking cable
^ For ignition key removal lock
^ Not to be kinked

38. Lever for locking cable
^ For ignition key removal lock

39. Retaining spring
^ For locking cable

40. Mounting
^ for selector lever in Tiptronic position

Wire for selector lever lock, selector lever light and Tiptronic, removing and installing

Removing





^ Disconnect connector - 1 - for shift lock solenoid - 2 - (hidden).
^ Unclip cover - 3 - and lift.
^ Disconnect connector - 4 - for shift positions and Tiptronic in direction of arrow.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
^ Install center console and extension.

Removing





^ Slightly lift spring at top - arrow B - and remove locking cable from selector mechanism.
^ Unhook spring - arrow A - at retaining clip - arrow C - and remove toward top.

Installing





^ Insert spring - arrow B - from top and hook in at retaining clip - arrow C -.
^ Align spring so that it is seated evenly in groove - arrow A -.
^ Slightly lift spring at top - arrow B - and insert locking cable into selector mechanism.
^ Install center console and extension.
