Left and Right Transmission Supports, Removing and Installing

Left and right transmission supports, removing and installing, 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required:

^ Transmission support 3282
^ Adjustment plate 3282/19
^ Torque wrench 550 Nm V.A.G. 1331
^ Engine-/gearbox jack V.A.G. 1383 A

Removing





^ For vehicles with auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - from exhaust pipe at noise insulation.





^ Remove noise insulation - arrows A and B -.
^ For vehicles with noise insulation - D -, remove bolts - arrows C -

Transmission must be supported as described for removing one or both transmission supports.





^ Position transmission support 3282.

Transmission support 3282 is attached to "automatic transmission 01V" using adjustment plate 3282/19.

The symbols on the adjusting plate indicate the mounts required, the arrow points forward.





^ Move engine-/gearbox jack VAG 1383 A with transmission support 3282 under the transmission, align adjustment plate parallel to transmission and support transmission.
^ Secure transmission on transmission support 3282 using bolt - A -.
^ Fill space between transmission support and oil pan with washers.

Right and left transmission supports, disassembling and assembling

Vehicles with hydraulic transmission mounts





Items - C - and - B - are not installed on vehicles with hydraulic transmission bearing - H -, because bolt - G - is threaded directly into the transmission bearing.
^ Remove bolts - A -.
^ Unscrew bolt - G -.
^ Lift transmission slightly using engine-/gearbox jack VAG 1383 A and transmission support 3282 and remove hydraulic transmission mount - H -.
^ Remove transmission supports - E -.

Vehicles with rubber/metal transmission mounts





^ Remove bolts - A -.
^ Unscrew nut - B - and remove with stop - C -.
^ Remove bolt - F -.
^ Lift transmission slightly using engine-/gearbox jack VAG 1383 A and transmission support 3282 and remove rubber/metal transmission mount - D -.
^ Remove transmission supports - E -.

Right transmission support, removing
^ Remove right front exhaust system.





^ Remove bolts - B -.
^ Remove heat shield - C -.

The right heat shield is not installed on 6 cylinder TDI engines.
^ Remove transmission support - D - by unscrewing bolts - A - from transmission.

Left transmission support, removing

Except vehicles with 4-cylinder engine:
^ Remove left front exhaust system.





^ Remove bolts - 1 - and - 4 - and remove shielding plate/selector lever cable - A -.





^ Remove bolts - B -.
^ Remove heat shield - C -.

The left heat shield is not installed on 4-cylinder engines.
^ Remove transmission support - D - by unscrewing bolts - A - from transmission.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:





^ Threaded holes in transmission mounts - D or H - must be cleaned of any locking compound residue. Cleaning can be performed using a thread tap.
^ Screw in new bolts - A -.
^ Install right front exhaust system.

Except vehicles with 4-cylinder engine:
^ Remove left front exhaust system.





^ Install noise insulation.
