Suspension strut, disassembling and assembling
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required:
^ Shock absorber set T10001
^ Torque wrench V.A.G. 1332
^ Spring compressor V.A.G 1752/1
^ Spring holder V.A.G. 1752/7
Disassembling
^ Insert spring compressor V.A.G 1752/1 into coil spring.
^ Make sure the coil spring is properly seated in spring holder V.A.G. 1752/7 - Arrow -.
^ Tighten coil spring using spring compressor V.A.G 1752/1 until the upper shock absorber mounting is free.
^ Remove hex nut from piston rod using shock absorber set T10001.

^ Remove coil spring and elements from shock absorber.
Assembling
Assembly is in reverse sequence of disassembly.
CAUTION:
The upper and lower ends of the coil spring must be in contact with the spring seat - arrow -.
The figure shows the lower spring end. It must face center of vehicle.
Installation position of shock absorber mounting
The axis of the pins - 1 - must align with the axis - 2 - of the lower shock absorber bushing - 4 -.
3. Shock absorber mounting The pins - 1 - face outer side of vehicle.
