Airbag Unit, Replacing After An Accident

Accident where airbag deployed
After replacing airbag units or airbag control module, labels (only tear-off strips) of new components must be attached to "registration card 2 for airbag systems". "Send registration card 2 for airbag systems" to appropriate business or to importer.

"Registration card 2 for airbag systems" can be printed from "Technical Service Handbook".

In "Technical Service Handbook 2" "Procedure ID" or "TPL number" for this procedure is: "2000987".

Always replace the following components after an accident when airbag has deployed:
- All deployed airbag units with control modules and sensors.
- Support for passenger module where passenger airbag deployed.
- Return ring with slip ring, if drivers side airbag deployed.
- All seatbelts with belt tensioners that have been triggered.
- If necessary (visual check) also replace the following: all damaged components.

Accident where airbag did not deploy
- If airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) - K75 - does not indicate a DTC, airbag components do not need to be replaced. Check seatbelts separately.
