Passenger Side Airbag Unit, Removing And Installing







Assembly Overview
1. Airbag unit, passenger side front
2. Brace
- Always replace after airbag has deployed.
3. Hex bolt
- 4 Nm
4. Connector
5. Clip
6. Hex nut
- 4Nm
7. Cover

Removing

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for working on airbags.

- Disconnect vehicle battery.
- Remove cover - for passengers side airbag against direction of travel (cover is held by four clips - arrows -).
- Swing upward and remove hex nuts -.

CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.

- Remove hex bolts -, remove airbag units from support - and disconnect harness connector

Installing
Installation is the reverse order of removal.

- Switch ignition on.

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect vehicle battery.
