Lights - Headlights Appear To Vibrate

Condition

Customer States Headlight Appears to be Vibrating
Vehicles may display vibration of the headlight due to clearance between headlight assembly and front fascia (bumper).

Technical Background
May be caused by insufficient fastening of the headlight assembly.

Production Solution
Headlight assembly should rest on the front fascia (bumper).

Service
Vibration concerns can be resolved as follows:
- Loosen all mounting screws and adjust complete headlight assembly making sure that the assembly will rest on the front fascia (bumper).
- Tighten lower mounting screws first, then tighten upper mounting screws.
- Check for proper installation with a paper strip between the front fascia (bumper) and the headlight.

Tip: When checking headlight assembly for proper installation, there should be no clearance between front fascia (bumper) and headlight assembly.

- Check engine mounts for proper installation and possible reduction in vibration.
- Check headlight adjustment. See Repair Manual Group 94 - Lights, Switches - Exterior.

NOTE:
The headlights meet all FMVSS requirements and Must Not be exchanged.
