Headlights With High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Lamp, Replacing Bulbs
HID low beam bulb -L13- / -L14-, removing
WARNING:
- HIGH VOLTAGE.
- Always disconnect negative (-) battery terminal prior to servicing any parts of the HID lamp system marked with the yellow "HIGH VOLTAGE!" symbol.
- After disconnecting battery, briefly turn headlights on and off in order discharge any residual voltage.
- The control modules for HID lamps must never be operated (headlights turned on) without an HID lamp.
- HID bulbs operate at high voltages and temperatures and must only be operated (headlights turned on) when installed in the headlight housing.
- Internal pressure of HID glass bulb may exceed 10 bar.
- The physical and mechanical properties of HID bulbs are very sensitive. Always wear safety glasses and protective gloves when removing and installing HID bulb.
CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks.
- Remove headlight housing.
- Remove three screws -arrow- and remove large cover cap -1-
- Turn connector coupling -1- counterclockwise 90 degrees and pull off.
WARNING: The physical and mechanical properties of HID bulbs are very sensitive. Always wear safety glasses and protective gloves when removing and installing HID bulb.
- Carefully remove HID bulb.
Installing
CAUTION: Do not touch glass portion of bulb with bare hands. Even the smallest amount of moisture and/or contaminants from fingers that evaporates on the bulb during operation can cause the glass to cloud over.
- Insert new bulb, making sure that the bulb mounting aligns with the locating lugs in the housing.
- Lock connector coupling into place by turning clockwise 90 degrees.
- Reinstall cover cap -1- and secure with screws -arrows-
- Reinstall headlight housing.
- Check headlight (HID lamp) function.
- Check headlight aim.
High Beam Headlamp -M30- / -M32-, replacing
Removing
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Unclip retainer -3-, pull latch -8- from guide and remove cover cap from rear of headlight housing
- Turn socket (with connector) -2- counterclockwise and pull out of headlight housing.
NOTE: Bulb socket screws must not be loosened when replacing bulbs.
- Pull bulb -1- out of socket -2- in direction of -arrow-
- Replace bulb.
Installing

- Reinstall socket (with connector) into headlight housing. Lock socket in place by turning clockwise.
- Reinstall cover cap.
- Check headlight (bulb) function.
Parking Lamp -M1-/ -M3-, replacing
Removing
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Unclip retainer -3-, pull latch -8- from guide and remove cover cap from rear of headlight housing
- Pull socket with bulb and connector -1- from housing.
- Remove bulb.
Installing
CAUTION: Do not touch glass portion of bulb with bare hands. Even the smallest amount of moisture and/or contaminants from fingers that evaporates on the bulb during operation can cause the glass to cloud over.
- Install bulb.
- Reinstall socket with bulb and connector into housing (push straight in).
- Reinstall cover cap.
- Check parking light (bulb) function.
Turn Signal Lamp -M5- / -M7-, replacing
Removing
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Unclip retainer -3-, pull latch -8- from guide and remove cover cap from rear of headlight housing
- Turn socket (with connector) -1- counterclockwise -arrow- and pull from housing.
- Remove bulb.
Installing

- Install bulb.
- Reinstall socket (with connector) into headlight housing. Lock socket in place by turning clockwise.
- Reinstall cover cap.
- Check turn signal light (bulb) function.
