Headlamp Alignment Actuator: Service and Repair
Headlight Beam Adjusting Motor -V48- / -V49- For Headlights With High Intensity Discharge (HID) Lamps, Removing And Installing
NOTE:
- Removal and replacement is only possible with headlight housing removed from vehicle.
- After removal and installation of adjusting motor, headlight basic setting must always be reestablished VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System (the headlight inclination specification is embossed into the headlight housing).
Removing
- Remove headlight assembly.
- Remove three screws -arrows- and remove large cover cap -1-
- Disconnect electrical connector -1- at headlight beam adjusting motor.
- Remove screws -arrow-.
- Remove positioner linkage ball from guide socket in headlight housing by lifting reflector base plate slightly.
Installing
- Insert positioner linkage ball -1- into guide socket -arrow- in headlight housing by lifting reflector base plate slightly.
- Reconnect electrical connector -1-.
- Reinstall screws -arrows-.
- Reinstall cover cap.
- Reinstall headlight assembly.
- Check function of headlight (HID lamp).
- Bring headlight into basic setting.

- Check headlight aim.
