Parking brake cables, removing and installing (Front Wheel Drive (FWD))
Removing
- Remove both rear wheels.
- Remove heat shield - 1 -.
- Remove nuts - arrows - from heat shield - 2 - and slide heat shield forward.
Note: The adjustment components for the parking brake cables are located on the underside of the vehicle in the tunnel.
- Remove locking element - 1 -.
- Install adjusting nut - 2 - onto stop, while counter holding in area - 3 - using an open end wrench (13 mm).
- Push cable sleeves - 4 - and - 5 - together at the same time.
- Pull out securing clip - 1 - and unhook parking brake cable from brake caliper.
Note: Do not damage parking brake boot when removing and installing.
- Unfasten parking brake cables from retainers on rear axle beam - arrows -.
- Unclip ABS wheel speed sensor cable from retainer.
- Loosen heat shield at rear muffler - arrows - and move aside.
- Open retainer and remove parking brake cables.
- Pry parking brake cables out of console with screwdriver.
- Remove center console extension.
- Press parking brake cables in direction of parking brake lever using a screwdriver and press out the ball from the retainer.
- Remove parking brake cables.
Installing
- Remove any plastic components that may possibly be equipped on compensator. They do not need to be installed again.
- Secure compensator with a screwdriver to prevent it from turning.
- Insert ball plunger through console and into the compensator.
- Parking brake cable must engage into console.
- Fasten parking brake cables to rear axle beam.
- Adjust parking brake.
- Install center console extension.
