Parking brake cables (All Wheel Drive (AWD)), removing and installing

Removing
- Remove rear wheels.





- Remove exhaust system - arrow -.





- Remove retaining nuts - arrows - from heat shield and remove heat shield.

Note: The adjusting elements for the brake cables are located in front of the lower control arms.





- Remove locking element - 1 -.
- Install adjusting nut - 2 - onto stop, while counter holding in area - 3 - using an open end wrench (13 mm).
- Push cable sleeves - 4 - and - 5 - together at the same time.





- Pull out securing clip - 1 - and unhook parking brake cable from brake caliper.

Note: Do not damage parking brake boot when removing and installing.





- Squeeze plugs together on parking brake cable using pliers and pull parking brake cable out through the lower control arm - 1 -.





- Remove parking brake cables from retainers - arrow - on rear axle beam.





- Unclip brake lines from retainers - arrows -.





- Pry parking brake cables out of console with screwdriver.
- Remove center console extension.





- Using a screwdriver press parking brake cables in direction of parking brake lever and press out the ball from retainer.
- Remove parking brake cables.

Installing





- Remove any plastic components that may possibly be equipped on compensator. They do not need to be installed again.
- Secure compensator with a screwdriver to prevent it from turning.
- Insert ball plunger through console and into compensator.
- Parking brake cable must engage into console.
- Fasten parking brake cables to rear axle beam.
- Adjust parking brake.
- Install center console extension.
