HP-2 brake caliper, servicing,





Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1410
^ Brake pedal depressor V.A.G 1869/2

Note:
^ Install complete repair kit
^ After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
^ To extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use a bleeder bottle that only comes into contact with brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!
^ Torque specification for wheel bolts.





1 - Brake disc
^ Ventilated brake disc: 321 mm diameter
^ Brake disc thickness: 30 mm
^ Wear limit: 28 mm

Note:
^ Some parts may be incorrectly stamped 27 mm for wear limit.
^ When worn always replace both sides
^ Remove brake caliper prior to removing

2 - Brake caliper
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads

Removing:
^ Install brake pedal loading device V.A.G 1869/2

Installing:
^ Remove brake pedal loading device V.A.G 1869/2
^ Bleeding braking system Braking system, bleeding
^ Servicing HP2 brake caliper, servicing

3 - Harness retainer for wear indicator

4 - Washer

5 - Ribbed bolt, 190 Nm
^ If re-using, clean the ribs

6 - Tension spring
^ Unclip sideways
^ Removal not possible

7 - Spring clip

8 - Connection

9 - Brake hose
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads

10 - Hex bolt, 25 Nm

11 - Bracket

12 - Brake line, 15 Nm

13 - Brake pads
^ With wear indicator
^ When wear limit is reached (limit: approx. 4 mm) warning lamp lights up on instrument panel
^ Thickness 14 mm not including backing plate
^ Wear limit: 2 mm not including backing plate
^ When worn always replace both sides
