^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1410
^ Brake pedal depressor V.A.G 1869/2
Note:
^ Install complete repair kit
^ After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
^ To extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use a bleeder bottle that only comes into contact with brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!
^ Torque specification for wheel bolts.
1 - Brake hose
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
2 - Bracket
^ Bolt to brake caliper housing
3 - Spring clip
4 - Brake line, 15 Nm
^ Install into brake caliper housing
^ Install together with brake hose, counter hold on brake hose hex.
^ Make sure that lugs are properly seated in grooves in bracket.
5 - Hex bolt, 8 Nm
6 - Cap
^ Remove
^ Upper cap with harness retainer for brake pad wear indicator
7 - Guide pins, 25 Nm
8 - Ribbed combi bolt, 190 Nm
^ If re-using, clean ribs
9 - Brake carrier
^ Bolt to wheel bearing housing
10 - Bushing
11 - Brake caliper
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
Removing:
^ Install brake pedal loading device V.A.G 1869/2
Installing:
^ Remove brake pedal loading device V.A.G 1869/2
12 - Retaining spring
^ Insert into both holes of brake caliper housing
Note: After installing in both holes, the retaining spring must be pressed under the brake carrier. If improperly installed, the wear of the outer brake pad cannot be adjusted, thereby increasing brake pedal travel.
13 - Brake pads
^ With wear indicator
^ When wear limit is reached (limit: approx. 4 mm) warning lamp lights up on instrument panel
^ Thickness 14 mm not including backing plate
^ Wear limit: 2 mm not including backing plate
^ When worn always replace both sides
14 - Brake disc
^ Ventilated brake disc: 334 mm diameter
^ Brake disc thickness: 32 mm
^ Wear limit: 30 mm
^ When worn always replace both sides
^ Left and right are different, arrow points in direction of forward travel
^ Remove brake caliper prior to removing
