Front Caliper Piston, Removing and Installing
Front caliper piston, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment
^ 3409 Wedge
^ Piston resetting tool
Removing
^ Force pistons individually out of brake caliper housing using compressed air.
Note: Only one piston at a time can be forced out. Hold the other piston in the caliper using the piston resetting tool -b-. Place a wooden board -a- in the recess of the caliper housing to prevent damaging the piston.
^ Remove seal using 3409 wedge.
Note: When removing make sure that the surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
^ Clean surfaces of the piston and seal (use only appropriate solvent) then dry.
^ Apply a thin coat of paste G 052 150 A2 to piston and seal before installing.
^ Install oil seal in brake caliper housing.
^ Place protective seal with the outer sealing lip on the piston.
^ Using 3409 wedge, insert the inner sealing lip into the cylinder grove.
Note: Hold piston in front of caliper housing.
^ Press piston into the brake caliper housing using piston resetting tool.
Note: The sealing lip of protective outer seal will then engage in the piston groove.
