- Remove caps - arrows -.

- For vehicles with brake wear pad indicator, disconnect connector - 1 -.
- Lift locking tab slightly on the lower part of the connector - 2 - and turn 90°.
- Pull lower part of the connector from the holder.

- Pry out brake pad retaining spring using a screwdriver and remove from brake caliper housing.

- Remove both guide pins from brake caliper.
- Remove brake caliper housing and support it so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose.
- Remove brake pads from brake caliper housing and/or brake carrier.

Clean brake caliper with mineral spirits exclusively.

Installing

Note: Before inserting new brake pads, press the piston back into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

- Press piston back into caliper housing.

- Insert brake pad with retaining spring into brake caliper housing (piston).

Note: The inner surface (with tension spring) is indicated by an arrow. The arrow must point in the direction of the brake rotor rotation when driving forward. If improperly installed, noises could result.

- Remove protective foil from backing plate of outer brake pad.
- Set outer brake pad onto carrier.
- Attach brake caliper housing to carrier by fastening guide pins.
- Install both caps.
- Set retaining spring into brake caliper housing.
- Insert brake wear indicator connector into the bracket on the brake caliper.

The brake lining wear indicator wiring must be routed between the brake carrier and brake tube.

Note:
^ When installing the outer brake pad, make sure that the pad does not adhere to the brake caliper housing before it is in the correct installation position.
^ Do not damage the adhesion surface.
^ After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
^ After changing brake pads check brake fluid level.
