Door Lock, Removing and Installing - Rear Door



Door Lock, Removing And Installing

Window regulator, door lock and loudspeaker are secured to assembly carrier.

Door lock can only be removed in conjunction with assembly carrier.

Assembly carrier can only be removed when door window is removed from window regulator. For this purpose, door window must be lowered to height of installation hole in assembly carrier and spreader pins must be removed.

If it is not possible to lower door window by electrical window regulator, first exact cause of malfunction must be determined.

To do so, using Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551, check DTC Memory of comfort system (address word 46).

If there is a malfunction, proceed according to description: and.

Removing

All vehicles
- Remove rear door trim:
- Remove housing







- Remove cap -1 -.

Vehicles with electrical window regulators
- Remove bolts -1 - (4 x).







- Remove housing - 2 - from window regulator motor.

Bosch window regulators
- Remove anchor -1 - from window regulator motor - arrow -.







- Door window can now by pushed down to height of installation holes in assembly carrier.

NOTE: Motor must not be re-used.

Siemens window regulators
- Remove bolts -1 - (4 x).







- Remove housing - 2 - from window regulator motor.

NOTE: Motor must not be re-used.







- By turning anchor -1 -, door window can be moved down to height of installation hole.

All vehicles
- Lower door window until spreader pins - 2 - and spreader plug - 3 - are accessible in window cut-out.

NOTE: When pressing out spreader pin and spreader plug, make sure that outer door plate does not bow.

- Install a 5 mm bolt (approx. 70 mm long) into spreader pin - 2 - and remove from spreader plug - 3 -.
- Now install a 8 mm bolt (approx. 80 mm long) into spreader plug - 3 -.

NOTE: When screwing bolt into spreader plug, do not use excessive force on anchor otherwise it may fall backward into door.

- Remove spreader plug from window regulator guide and thereby from door window.
- During this, cable - 2 - must be pressed to side from window using a screwdriver.







- Slide door window upward and secure (e.g. using adhesive tape).
- Disconnect harness connector -1 -.







- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove door seal -1 - in area of door handle.
- Pull door handle - 2 - in direction of arrow and hold in this position. Remove bolt - 4 - up to stop using Socket wrench T 10011. housing is loosened by doing so.

NOTE: If bolt has been loosened too far, this may cause lock mechanism ring to loosen from mounting bracket and fall into door.







- Remove housing - 3 - at right angle to door from door handle mounting bracket.
- Remove upper assembly carrier from door, lift and lift out of door toward hinge side - arrow - of door.
- Rotate assembly carrier and disconnect harness connector from door lock.







- Unclip clips for electrical wires from rear side of assembly carrier.

Installing
- Retrofit cover for all vehicles > 09.99.
- Insert spreader plug - 2 - and spreader pin -1 - into window.
- Place projecting end of spreader plug on both sides of window.
- Guide door window into door.
- Insert assembly carrier into door.







- Insert bolts and tighten in specified sequence, tightening torque: 8 Nm.
- Installing door window







Rest of Installation is reverse of removal.
- Perform a function load test.
