Door Lock, Removing And Installing

Window regulator, door lock and loudspeaker are secured to assembly carrier.

Door lock can only be removed in conjunction with assembly carrier.

Assembly carrier can only be removed when door window clamping brackets of window regulator are Removed. To do this lower door window to height of assembly holes in assembly carrier and loosen clamping brackets.

If it is not possible to lower door window by electrical window regulator, first exact cause of malfunction must be determined.

To do so, using Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551, check DTC Memory of comfort system (address word 46).

If there is a malfunction, proceed according to description as on pages: and.

Removing

All vehicles







- Remove front door trim
- Removing lock cylinder housing
- Unclip clip -1- for lock mechanism lever - 3 - from door handle - 2 -.







- Remove caps -1-.
- Lower door window until securing bolts of door window are accessible.
- Loosen bolts - 2 - and press clamping brackets apart.
- Slide door window upward and secure (e.g. using adhesive tape).







- Disconnect all harness connectors - arrows -.
- Remove cap - 3 -.
- Remove bolts - 2 -, tightening torques: 20 Nm.







- Remove bolts - arrows -. Remove upper assembly carrier from door, lift and lift out from door toward hinge side of door.
- Rotate assembly carrier and disconnect harness connector from door lock.







- Unclip clips for electrical wires from rear side of assembly carrier.







- Drive out clips -1 - using a drift.
- Unclip cable - 2 - from clip -1 -.







- Using a screwdriver - 3 -, Remove door lock with retaining bracket from assembly carrier.

NOTE: Retaining bracket is not part of parts supplied with door lock. It is secured to door lock with a bolt and a blind rivet.

- Unclip locking rod -1 -. To do so, turn door lock in direction of - arrow -.
- Unclip cable - 2 -.







- Turn nipple of cable 90 degrees and remove from eyelet.

Installing
Retrofit cover for all vehicles > 09.99.
- Insert assembly carrier into door.
- Insert bolts and tighten in specified sequence, tightening torque: 8 Nm.
- Loosen clamping brackets, press door window -1 - into window channel - arrow - and tighten clamping brackets with bolts - 2 -.







Rest of Installation is reverse of removal.
- Perform a function load test.
