Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch, Replacing

Recommended Special Tools And Equipment







- V.A.G 1331 torque wrench (5 to 50 Nm)

Requirements
- Selector lever must be in -P- position.
- Parking brake must be engaged.
- Ignition switched off.

Removing







- Disconnect 10-pin harness connector -2- to Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- (-1-).

Observe safety precautions.

- Remove left transmission supports.
- Remove mounting bolts and Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- (-1-) from shift rod.

Installing

NOTE:
- For the sake of illustration, work procedure is shown with transmission removed.
- Set Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- centered on shift rod. Risk of damage at switch terminals.







- Connect Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- (-3-) to shift rod -1-.
- Flat part at splines in Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -3- must align with flat part of shift rod -1-.
- Rotate multi-function switch -3- until the alignment hole -4- can be installed on the alignment pin -2- at transmission housing.
- Tighten mounting bolts for Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm

Rest of installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
- Install left transmission support.

Tightening torques
Transmission support to transmission 40 Nm
Transmission mount to subframe transmission 23 Nm







- Connect 10-pin harness connector -2- for Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- (-1-).
