Meaning of exhaust MIL
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lights up when exhaust relevant malfunctions are recognized by the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The Exhaust Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) as well as Glow Plug Indicator Light are located in instrument cluster.
NOTE: Glow Plug Indicator Light has a dual function:
- Blinking: Malfunctions were detected which influence driveability.
- Lighting up when ignition is switched on: Normally appears when starting up a cold diesel engine.
- The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is switched on as soon as malfunctions are detected that worsen emissions. DTC memory must be checked in this case, Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory. Diagnostic Mode 3: Check DTC Memory.
