Gear Lock For 5TH and Reverse Gear, Checking and Replacing

Gear lock for 5th and reverse gear, checking and replacing, 012/01W, 5 SPD. M/T





^ Remove heat shield - arrow 2 - above right drive axle.
^ Remove heat shield - arrow 1 - above right drive axle.





^ Remove gear lock - arrow -.





^ Checking and assembling gear lock:
^ Insert spring - 1 - into housing - 2 - and, while applying light pressure, turn spring to left until it locks into base of housing.
^ Insert bushing - 3 - onto spring so bent end of spring locates into groove properly.
^ Push bushing - 3 - against spring and turn approximately one turn left until lug on bushing aligns with groove in housing - 2 -.
^ Press lug of bushing - 3 - into groove in housing - 2 - to stop.
^ Turn bushing - 3 - to right and release; bushing - 3 - will spring into installed position.





Installed position of bushing:
^ Lug - arrow A - on bushing must always be located opposite to groove - arrow B - of housing.





Installed position of complete gear lock in transmission:

Recess - arrow A - faces bolt - arrow B -.
