Vehicles with airbags are equipped with a crash fuel shut-off system. It reduces the danger of a fire in a crash as the fuel pump is switched off via the fuel pump relay.

At the same time, this function improves engine start-up behavior. When opening the door, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds to build pressure in the fuel system.
