Left Flange Shaft Oil Seal, Removing

Left flange shaft oil seal, removing, 02J, 5 Spd. M/T

Special tools and equipment:

- VW 771 Multi-purpose tool
- VW 771/37 Puller hooks
- 3106 Drift
- V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench
- V.A.G 1332 Torque wrench

Removing
- Remove center and left noise insulation tray under engine/transmission if installed.
- Remove drive shaft
- Remove flange shaft securing bolts by screwing two bolts into flange and counterhold flange shaft using a lever.
- Place container under transmission.
- Remove flange shaft with spring.





- Pull out seal for flange shaft with VW 771 and VW 771/37.

Note: Do not damage sleeve, otherwise leaks will occur.

- Replace sleeve if damaged.

Installing





- Drive new seal into sleeve onto stop, when doing this do not cant seal.
- Fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with sealing grease G052 128 A1.
- Insert flange shaft.
- Install flange shaft with cone head bolt and tighten to prescribed torque
- Install drive shafts to transmission.
- Top off transmission oil.
- Install sound insulation trays.
