Removing
- Check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain anti-theft coding.
- Move selector lever to position "R".
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground strap.
- Remove selector lever handle.
- Remove selector mechanism and printed circuit board cover.





- Carefully pry frame up at four corners - arrows - and remove.





- Disconnect connector - arrow - from Shift lock solenoid -N110-.
- Move pull rod upward and shift selector lever to position "P" with pull rod still held up.





- Unhook locking cable - 1 - from selector mechanism locking lever.
- Remove forward mounting for selector mechanism (2 nuts) - arrows -.





- Disconnect intake hose - 1 - and connector - 2 - from mass air flow sensor.
- Disconnect secondary air injection pump hose - 3 - from air cleaner housing.
- Remove bolts - 4 -, - 5 - and - 6 -.
- Remove air cleaner complete.





- Press selector lever cable - 1 - off selector shaft lever - 3 - with, e.g. 10 mm open end wrench - 2 -.
- Press locking devices on selector lever cable support mounting together - arrows - and pull selector lever cable out of transmission support mounting.





- Unclip selector lever cable - 1 - from clip - arrow - on transmission.
- Raise vehicle.





- Loosen double clamp - A - and slide to rear.
- Remove tunnel bridge - B - located beneath exhaust system.
- Remove heat shields - C - and - D -.





- Disconnect selector mechanism from body - arrows B -. Do not loosen nuts - arrows A -.
- Take selector mechanism with selector lever cable out downward.

Installing
- Installation is performed in the reverse sequence of removal. In the process, note the following:
- Reconnect exhaust system and install tunnel bridge.

Note: Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable. Do not grease the ball sockets of the selector lever cable.

- Insert selector lever cable into transmission support bracket and press carefully onto selector shaft lever. Do not bend selector shaft lever when doing this, otherwise selector mechanism cannot be adjusted exactly.





- Fit selector lever cable - 1 - into clip - arrow - on transmission. Ensure selector lever cable is maintained at a distance of at least 5 mm from ATF cooler when routing.
- Install air filter housing
- Hook locking cable into selector mechanism locking lever.
- Adjust locking cable.
- Check function of ignition key removal lock.
- Install selector mechanism and printed circuit board cover.
- Install center console
- Install selector lever handle.
- Connect battery Ground strap.
- Adjust selector lever cable.
- Check selector mechanism.
- Enter radio code.
- Initialize power windows, set correct time on clock
