Rear Axle Beam, Assembly Overview



Rear axle beam, assembly overview

Note: Axle beam and stub axle must not be welded or straightened.





1. Axle beam
^ Assembly surface and threaded holes for stub axle must be free of paint and dirt

2. Base plate
^ Material: zinc
^ Check base plate for damage

3. Coil spring
^ Allocation Electronic parts catalog "ETKA"

4. Spring seat
5. Hex bolt
^ M10 X 35
^ Always replace
^ Thread can be repaired using heli-coil thread insert when thread of weld nut is damaged.
^ Repair thread in longitudinal member

6. Shock absorber
7. Hex bolt
^ M10 X 75
^ Always replace

8. Hex nut
^ Always replace
^ Axle beam must be in center position when tightening nut.
^ It is recommended that a second person put weight on rear of vehicle during tightening

9. Socket head bolt
^ M6 x 16

10. ABS wheel speed sensor
11. Stub axle
^ Straightening work prohibited.
^ Thread-cutting prohibited.

12. Stone impact protection plate
13. Phillips-head screw
14. Brake disc
15. Dust cap
^ Always replace after remova
^ An appropriate seal can only be achieved with a new dust cap.

16. Self-locking 12-point nut
^ M20 x 1.5
^ Always replace

17. Wheel hub with wheel bearing
^ Always replace after removal
^ Wheel bearing and wheel hub are installed together in one housing.
^ This wheel bearing/wheel hub unit is maintenance-free and adjustment free. It is not possible to adjust or service the unit.

18. Hex bolt
^ M10 X 32
^ Always replace

19. Cover plate
20. Bracket for parking brake cable
21. Parking brake cable
22. Hex bolt
^ M10 X 35
^ Always replace
^ Do not loosen rear axle when removing if possible
^ Thread can be repaired using heli-coil thread insert when thread of weld nut is damaged.
^ Repair thread in longitudinal member

23. Self-locking hex nut
^ M12 X 1.5
^ Always replace
^ Axle beam must be in horizontal position (non load-bearing condition) when tightening nut.

24. Hex bolt
^ Always replace after removal

25. Mounting bracket for rear axle
^ After installing, check path of rear axle, adjust if necessary
^ Do not loosen rear axle when removing if possible

26. Hydraulic bonded rubber bushing
^ Distinguishing characteristic to bonded rubber bushing: The hydraulic bonded rubber bushing has a bulge - arrow - pointing toward vehicle exterior.
^ If bushing leaks it must be replaced

27. Bonded rubber bushing

28. Bracket for parking brake cable
29. Bolt
^ M8 x 25
^ Always replace

30. Vibration shock absorber
^ Always replace
