Steering column, checking for damage

Optical test
- Check whether parts of the steering column indicate damage. If damage is detected, the complete steering column must be replaced.

Function test

Test requirement:
^ Steering column universal joint pull off from steering gear.
- Check whether steering column can be turned easily and without catching.
- Check whether steering column length and height are adjustable.





- Check dimension - a -.
- Dimension - a - : maximum 23 mm

If a malfunction has already been detected in one of these tests, the steering column is damaged.
- In this case, replace steering column.
