Air Injection Control Valve: Service and Repair
Combination Valve, Removing And Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G1331
- Ladder VAS 5085 or equivalent
NOTE: Always replace seals, gaskets and O-rings.
Removing
From above:
- Remove intake hose.
- Disconnect pressure hose from combination valve.
- Pull pressure and vacuum hoses off combination valve.
- Loosen screwed connections on connection pipe.
From below:
- Remove right side inner constant velocity joint protective cover from engine if installed.
- Unbolt connecting pipe on exhaust manifold.
- Remove combination valve. Use universal joint and 5 mm hex bit from 3/8" socket set to remove.
Installing
- Guide front bolt through warm air collector plate from below with assistance of tools.
- Hold bolt from above (second technician).
- Insert 5 mm hex bit (with universal joint) into bolt head.
- Position combination valve from above (second technician) and install second bolt (tightening torque: 10 Nm).
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the disassembly procedure.
