Multi-function TR switch -F125-, removing and installing, adjusting, 09G, 6 Spd. A/T
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
Setting gauge T10173:
Torque wrench V.A.G1331:
Removing
- Move selector lever to position "N".
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect intake hose - 1 - and connector - 2 - from mass air flow sensor.
- Disconnect secondary air injection pump hose - 3 - from air cleaner housing.
- Remove bolts - 4 -, - 5 - and - 6 -.
- Remove air cleaner complete.
- Press selector lever cable - 1 - off selector shaft lever - 4 - with a 10 mm open end wrench - 3 -.
- Press locking devices on selector lever cable support mounting together - arrows - and pull selector lever cable out of transmission support mounting.
- Disconnect connector - 2 - from Multi-function TR switch -F125-.
- Remove nut - 1 -.
- Pull spring ring - 2 - and lever - 3 - off selector shaft lever - 4 -.
- Bend back hooks of locking plate - 2 - with a screwdriver.
Note: If one or more hooks of the locking plate break off while bending, replace the locking plate.
- Remove nut - 1 -.
- Remove bolt - 5 -.
- Pull multi-function TR switch - 4 - along with locking plate - 2 - and washer - 3 - off selector shaft - 6 -.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse sequence of removal. In the process, note the following:
- Fit Multi-function TR switch -F125- - 4 - onto selector shaft - 6 -.
- Tighten multi-function TR switch securing bolts - 5 - hand tight.
- Fit locking plate - 2 - and washer - 3 - onto selector shaft - 6 -.
Note:
- Fit locking plate - 2 - with hooks facing up.
- Fit locking plate - 2 - with long thin guides into long, thin recesses of selector shaft - 6 -.
- Tighten nut - 1 - to 7 Nm.
- Secure nut - 1 - by bending up hooks on locking plate - 2 -.
Note: If one or more hooks of the locking plate break off while bending, replace the locking plate.
- Install lever - 3 - onto selector shaft - 4 -.
- Switch transmission to position "P" using lever - 3 - by pushing lever - 3 - toward rear of vehicle onto limit stop.
- Select position "N" on transmission using lever - 3 - (Move lever - 3 - two detents toward front of vehicle).
- Fit spring ring - 2 - and nut - 1 - onto selector shaft - 4 -.
- Tighten nut - 1 - to 13 Nm.
Adjusting
- Move selector lever to position "N".
Note: Do not kink the selector lever cable.
Requirements
- Selector lever cable is disconnected at selector shaft lever.
- Selector shaft positioned at "N".
- Multi-function Transmission Range (TR) switch -F125- securing bolts are loosened
- Selector shaft lever is removed.
Work sequence
- Mount setting gauge onto selector shaft - 2 - and turn multi-function TR switch - 1 - until gauge locks into lug on multifunction
- TR switch connector.
- Secure setting gauge onto selector shaft - 2 - with bolt - 3 -.
- Tighten bolts - arrows - to 6 Nm.
- Remove setting gauge.
- Install in reverse order.
