Muffler, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Torque wrench V.A.G1331

Removing
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove wiper arms (hex nuts M8 = 20 Nm).
- Remove plenum chamber cover (outer) and plenum chamber sealing part.
- Remove intake hose and intake manifold upper part.

NOTE: Seal the intake ports in the intake manifold lower part with a clean cloth.

- Disconnect pressure hose from combination valve.
- Remove connecting pipe between combination valve and exhaust manifold.
- Remove warm air collector plate.
- Remove right side inner constant velocity joint protective cover from engine if installed.
- Remove engine/exhaust manifold support.
- Disconnect connector for oxygen sensor and move wiring clear.
- Unbolt (or remove) front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter from exhaust manifold (disconnect connection for oxygen sensor and move wiring clear).
- Unbolt exhaust manifold and remove upward.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
- Replace seals/gaskets and self-locking nuts.
- Tightening torques or.

- Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory of engine control module. If necessary, correct fault and erase DTC memory.
