Notes on Installing
Notes on installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
^ Route all the various lines (e.g. for fuel, hydraulics, EVAP system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original positions are restored.
^ Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
- Install new dowel sleeves to centralize transmission on engine block.
- Install intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves - arrows -.
Vehicles with a manual transmission
- If necessary, centralize clutch disk.
- Check clutch release bearing for wear, replace if necessary.
- Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and splines on input shaft with G 000 100.
- Install hydraulic clutch slave cylinder.
- Install selector mechanism.
Vehicles with 4 Spd. Automatic transmission 01M
- For fastening torque converter to drive pate, only use nuts approved in parts program.
- Install gate selector cable onto transmission.
- If necessary, install selector mechanism.
Vehicles with 6 Spd. Automatic Transmission 09G
- For fastening torque converter to drive pate, only use nuts approved in parts program.
- Install gate selector cable onto transmission.
- If necessary, install selector mechanism.
Continued for all models
- When installing engine/transmission assembly, check for sufficient clearance to assembly mountings and radiator.
- Guide power steering pressure line past transmission on installation.
- Align engine and transmission mountings.
- Fasten engine and transmission assembly mountings.
- Install right side axle shaft and connect left side axle shaft at transmission.
- If part of the equipment, install protective cap to engine for inner right constant velocity joint.
- Install front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
- Install power steering pump.
- Check electrical connections and routing.
- Install Poly V-belt.
- Install secondary air pump motor with bracket.
- Fill with coolant.
- Install middle and right side sound insulation.
Vehicles without Electronic Power Control (EPC)
- Adjust throttle cable.
Continued for all models
- Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory of all control modules, correct faults and then delete DTC memory.
- Perform a test drive and read DTC memory of all control modules again.
Note:
^ Observe applicable safety precautions during road test Safety precautions.
