Over-center spring, removing and installing, 02J, 5 Spd. M/T

Special tools and equipment

T10111 Assembly clamp:

Removing
- Remove driver's side lower cover.





- Install assembly clamp T10111, from right side, onto over-center spring.

Note: Ensure that the assembly clamp is correctly seated. The clamp must be positioned on the rear part of the over-center spring so that the claws fit over the web -1-.

- Press clutch pedal lightly towards bulkhead. Hook tab -2- of assembly clamp into cut-out of over-center spring.
- Press clutch pedal as far as possible toward bulkhead until over-center spring can be removed downward out of mountings on bearing bracket and clutch pedal.
- Bring clutch pedal to rest position.





- Turn over-center spring together with assembly clamp T10111 in direction of arrow -A- and take out downward in direction of arrow -B-.

Installing
- Pull clutch pedal into passenger compartment.





- Insert over-center spring with assembly clamp T10111 upward (in direction of arrow -A-) into bearing bracket and then turn in direction of arrow -B-.





- Insert over-center spring into rear mounting first -A-.
- Operate clutch pedal until over-center spring seats on mounting tab (arrow -B-) of clutch pedal.
- Take out assembly clamp while bringing clutch pedal to rest position.
- Install driver's side lower cover.
