Condition
Fuel Door Switch Falls into Left Door Trim Panel
Technical Background
Customer may press down too hard rather than lifting up to activate the door switch assembly. This excessive action may cause the switch retaining tabs to crack or break, allowing the switch to fall into the door trim panel.
Production Solution
Modification of the mold to avoid plastic residue.
Service
^ Remove door trim panel, see Repair Group 70 in ElsaWeb.
^ Retrieve switch assembly. Invert and secure door panel.
^ Obtain adhesive 3M(TM) Duramix 4747 Superfast Plastic Repair Adhesive, Adhesive Dispenser 4991 and one Dispenser tip 4909.
^ Apply adhesive on both sides of the flat surface of the switch, where indicated in figures 3 and 4.
^ Immediately install and seat switch into housing (an audible "click" may be heard).
^ Allow adhesive up to 1 minute to cure.
^ Attach switch to electrical connector and ensure proper switch operation.
^ Install door panel.
