Rear door panels rattle with radio bass.
Service
Strategically place noise dampening felt tape on each door panel assembly and supporting structure, to absorb rattle inducing frequencies following the procedure below:
Note:
Procedure MUST be performed on both rear vehicle doors, even if customer concern is with one door only Door Panel repair areas must be clean and dry before attempting repairs.
Rear Door Procedure
- Prior to removing door panel, apply paper tape as trace reference to mark exact position of rear door trim panel in relation to inner door.
- Remove both rear door trim panel(s), (see Repair Manual Body Interior Group 70-Trim/insulation, "Rear door trim, removing and installing").
- Using the inside edge of the paper tape as a guide, apply ZVW 837 001 foam tape to inside door frame along the sides of the trim panel to door contact surface (black arrows), then remove paper tape guide and foam tape protector. Do Not apply (approx. 6 in.) ZVW837 001 foam tape to the lower portion of the door where indicated (white arrows).
When procedure applies to vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, use the table.
