Radiator: Service and Repair
Radiator, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Refractometer T10007
^ Drip Tray V.A.G 1306 or Drip Tray for VAS 6100 VAS 6208
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Spring-type clip pliers VAS 5024A
Removing
- Drain coolant.
- Remove front bumper.
- Pull off coolant hoses from radiator.
- Disconnect harness connector from thermal switch.
- Bring lock carrier into service position. [1][2]Procedures
- Remove bolts from radiator and remove radiator with fans downward.
Vehicles with air conditioning:
- Observe additional information and removal work.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
Fill with new coolant.
Additional information and assembly work on vehicles with air conditioning
CAUTION! The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
Note: To prevent damage to condenser and also to the refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
- Remove retaining clamp(s) from refrigerant lines.
- Remove condenser from radiator and fasten to lock carrier.
