Shift lever and shift lever bushing, servicing, 012/01W, 5 SPD. M/T





1. Shift knob
^ Remove and install together with shift lever boot
^ As of 11/00 shift knob is secured to shift lever using a clamp
^ Shift knob with shift lever boot as of 11/00, removing and installing

2. Socket
3. Shift lever boot
^ Separate from shift knob
^ Before installing, engage with shift knob

4. Clamping sleeve
^ Always replace

5. Shift lever
6. Spacer tube
7. Hex nut, tighten to 10 Nm
8. Cover
9. Circlip
^ Always replace
^ Remove to remove shift lever

10. Washer
11. Rubber ring
12. Ball socket
13. Rubber ring
14. Shift lever bushing
15. Bolt, 6 Nm
^ Qty. 4
^ For shift lever bushing at shift mechanism housing





Separate shift lever boot from shift knob
^ Turn inner side of shift lever boot toward outside.
^ Pry clamp off carefully using screwdriver - arrows

Shift knob with shift lever boot as of 11/00, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing

Note:
^ Shift knob is removed together with shift lever boot

^ Unclip mounting frame for shift lever boot from front center console and remove it upward - arrows -





^ Pull up shift lever boot over shift knob.
^ Open clip - arrow - and remove shift knob together with shift lever boot.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:
When attaching, shift knob must engage into annular groove of shift lever.
