01E Manual Transmission
Selector rod, connecting rod and front push rod, servicing

Note: Lubricate all mountings and sliding surfaces with Polyurea grease Part No. G 052 142 A2.





1. Rear push rod
^ With ball housing
2. Bolt, 6 Nm
3. Hex socket head bolt, 25 Nm
4. Washer
5. Hex socket head bolt, 25 Nm
6. Clamping piece
7. Hex nut, 10 Nm
8. Hex nut, 10 Nm
^ Self-locking
^ Always replace
9. Gear selector lever
^ Only fits in one position in ball housing
10. Spacer tube
11. Selector fork
12. Bolt
13. Selector housing
14. Tensioning ring
15. Boot

Note:
^ Carefully pull boot over selector rod
^ Place boot on the marks on selector rod and push rod

16. Selector rod
^ As of 11/2000, revised dimensions
^ Determine using parts supplier
17. Nut, 10 Nm
18. Connecting rod
^ Remove with ball head from selector rod
^ As of 11/2000, secured to selector rod with a circlip
^ Remove from selector rod after removing circlip
^ Determine using parts supplier
19. Bolt, 25 Nm
^ Connecting rod to transmission
20. Nut, 25 Nm
^ Self-locking
^ Always replace
21. Transmission selector shaft
22. Front push rod
^ To secure to transmission, tighten hex socket bolt to 40 Nm
^ As of 11/2000, revised dimensions
^ Determine using parts supplier
23. Washer
^ Peened over with front push rod
^ Reinstall front push rod with same number of washers
