Oil Pump: Service and Repair



Oil pump, removing and installing

Engine code BHW

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Torque wrench (5 to 50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
^ Wrench (diameter 3 mm)

Removing
- Set engine cylinder 1 to TDC.
- Remove toothed belt.
- Drain engine oil.
- Remove oil pan.
- Remove sealing flange.





- Remove bolts from cover - arrows - and remove cover.





- With a screwdriver, carefully press center of tensioning rail indirection of - arrow - and fix chain tensioner in place as shown using a wrench (diameter 3 mm) - 1 -.
- Remove bolts - 2 - for chain tensioner.
- Remove bolts - 3 -.
- Remove chain tensioner.





- Remove securing ring - 1 -.
- Pull out shaft - 2 - from oil pump housing.
- Remove suction line from oil pump.





- Remove bolts - arrows - for oil pump and remove oil pump downward.

Installing

Note: Before installing, verify that the assembly sleeves are present in the balance shaft module.

- Install oil pump and fasten bolts - arrows - with applicable torque:





M6 = 10 Nm
M7 = 13 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°) (replace).

- Install suction line and tighten bolt to 10 Nm.
- Install chain tensioner.





- First, tighten bolt - 3 - to 20 Nm and then bolt - 2 - to 10 Nm.
- Pull out wrench - 1 - out from chain tensioner.
- Install cover and fasten to 8 Nm.
- Install sealing flange.
- Install oil pan.
- Install toothed belt.
