Shift Lever, Shift Lever Bushing, Pivot Rod and Shift Rod, Servicing



Shift lever, shift lever bushing, pivot rod and shift rod, servicing, 012/01W, 5 SPD. M/T

Note:
^ Lubricate beating areas and slide surfaces with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A 2.





1. Shift knob
^ Remove and install together with shift lever boot

2. Shift lever boot
^ Separate from shift knob
^ Before installing, engage with shift knob

3. Circlip
^ Always replace

4. Spacer bushing
5. Compression spring
6. Ball stop
^ Insert compression spring and bushing into ball stop and assemble on shift mechanism so that compression spring and bushing are on right (direction of travel)

7. Compression spring
8. Socket
^ Installed position: Rounded side points toward shift lever

9. Shift lever
^ Only fits in ball housing in one position

10. Spacer tube
11. Hex nut, tighten to 10 Nm
12. Hex nut, tighten to 10 Nm
13. Cover
14. Hex nut, tighten to 25 Nm
15. Connecting piece
16. Hex nut, tighten to 25 Nm
17. Connecting piece
18. Circlip
^ Always replace
^ Remove before removing ball stop

19. Buffer
20. Ball housing
21. Shift lever bushing
22. Socket head bolt, 10 Nm
23. Socket head bolt, 25 Nm
24. Washer
25. Shift mechanism housing
26. Hex nut, tighten to 10 Nm
27. Hex nut, tighten to 10 Nm
^ Self-locking
^ Always replace

28. Shift fork
29. Bolt
30. Tensioning ring
31. Bellows
^ Before removing and installing, remove catalytic converter and front heat shield

Note:
^ Carefully pull bellows over shift rod
^ Place bellows on markings of shift rod and pivot rod

32. Shift rod
^ With shift coupling

33. Clamping piece
34. Socket head bolt, 25 Nm
35. Hex bolt, 23 Nm
^ Self-locking
^ Always replace

36. Socket head bolt, 40 Nm
37. Washer
^ Rounded side faces pivot rod

38. Washer
39. Pivot rod





Separate shift lever boot from shift knob
^ Turn inner side of shift lever boot toward outside.
^ Carefully push rib in - direction of arrow - using screwdriver; pull off shift knob while doing so.
