1. Shift rod with shift fork for 3rd and 4th gear
2. Input shaft
3. Left stop bolt, 40 Nm
4. Washer
5. Relay shaft
6. Washer
7. Right stop bolt, 40 Nm
8. Shift rod
9. Shift detent
10. Torx bolt, 25 Nm
^ With shoulder to secure shift detent spring

11. Shift rod with shift fork for 1st/2nd/5th and reverse gear
^ Replacing bushings

13. Transmission cover
^ Made out of aluminum (bright), may only be installed with transmission housing made out of aluminum
^ Made out of magnesium (dull finish), may only be installed with transmission housing made out of aluminum
^ Oil collector tray, removing and installing

14. Transmission housing
^ Made out of aluminum (bright), may only be installed with transmission cover made out of aluminum
^ Made out of magnesium (dull finish), may only be installed with transmission cover made out of aluminum
^ Markings on transmission cover and housing, shortly after start of production

15. Torx screw
^ For transmissions made out of aluminum 43 mm in length
^ 25 Nm
^ For transmissions made out of magnesium 48 mm in length
^ Modified for transmissions made out of magnesium as of transmission manufacture date 25 09 7
^ Always replace
^ 20 Nm





Oil collector tray, removing and installing

Removing
^ Turn oil collector tray and remove

Installing
Installed position:

Oil collector tray faces upward in transmission cover

^ Push oil collector tray into transmission until it snaps in.





Marking of transmission cover and housing

The inscription "Mg Al 9 Zn 1" can be found in vicinity of - arrow 1 - and - arrow 2 - on transmissions manufactured from magnesium.

Mg = magnesium; additional information depends on manufacturing.





Connecting bolts for transmission cover to housing modified for transmissions made out of magnesium

As of transmission manufacture date 25 09 7, only bolts with a washer are installed in the 5 lower holes - arrows -.

Bolts are 51 mm in length

In this area, bolts without washer must not be used.

The transmission cover will be damaged below contact surface of bolt head due to contact corrosion.
