Seal in intermediate flange for front final drive, replacing
- Observe general repair instructions.

Special tools and equipment





- 3404 Thrust piece





- A hole for checking oil leakage for the oil seal in the drive pinion and the oil seal in the intermediate flange is located on the left-hand side of the intermediate flange.

Removing
- Remove center differential.
- Remove intermediate flange for front final drive.
- Drive seal out, toward center differential, using a drift.

Installing
Install in reverse order but note following:
- Check seal seat in intermediate flange for damage, rework if necessary.
- Coat outer circumference and sealing lip of oil seal with gear oil.
- Half fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with grease G 052 128 A1.





- Slide seal, with open side -arrow leading, onto 3404 Thrust piece.
- Drive seal in onto stop with 3404 Thrust piece.
- Install intermediate flange for front final drive.
- Install center differential.
