EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80-, Checking
In a no-current situation the EVAP canister purge valve is closed.
Checking activation:
Special tools and equipment
- VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool with VAG1551/3 adapter cable
Test conditions
- Engine coolant temperature at least 85°C (185°F)
- Fuse 29 OK.
Functional check
- Connect VAG1551/VAG1552 Scan Tool ST) and press buttons -0- and -1- to select "Engine Electronics" address word 01 (engine running at idle).

- Press keys 0 and 8 for "Read measuring value block" function and confirm entry with Q key.

- Press keys 0, 7 and 0 for "Display group number 70" and confirm entry with Q key.

- Press button 4 for "Basic Setting" function ("Tank venting valve diagnosis" will be initiated)
Note: The engine must not be loaded during this diagnostic because the diagnostic will be interrupted and will not be started again until the engine is revved-up.
If "TVV not OK" appears in display zone 4:
Indicated on display (1-4 = Display fields)
System in basic setting 70 ->

- When the diagnostic is initiated by the engine control module, the display in display field 4 jumps from "Test OFF" to "Test ON"
- Run engine at idling speed until specification "TVV OK" is displayed in display field 4.
Note: If the display jumps from "Test ON" to "Test OFF" during the test, rev up briefly and the test will be repeated.
Display fields
- Initiate output diagnostic test mode and activate evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve -N80-:
If the specification "TVV OK" is obtained:
- Press -> key.

- Switch ignition off.
