ATF cooler, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment





^ 3094 Hose clamps





^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench

Removing
- Check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain anti-theft coding.
- Remove cover from engine.
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground strap.





- Pull intake hose -1- and connector -2- off Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Pull secondary air pump hose -3- off air cleaner housing.
- Remove bolts -4-, -5- and -6-.
- Remove air cleaner complete.





- Clamp off ATF cooler hoses with 3094 clamps and disconnect from ATF cooler.





- Remove ATF cooler -1- from transmission (arrow -A-).

Installing
Install in reverse order. When doing this note the following:
- Replace O-rings for ATF cooler.





- When installing ATF cooler -1- seat lug (arrow -B-) into cutout in transmission housing.
- Insert bolt (arrow -A-) and tighten to 36 Nm.
- Check level of coolant in coolant system:
- Check ATF level and top off if necessary.
