Gear Selector Mechanism, Adjusting
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- 110027 Pin
Note:
- The following points are essential for making correct selector adjustment
- Moving parts of selector mechanism and transmission elements must be in proper condition.
- Selector mechanism must move freely.
- The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.
- Transmission in neutral position.
- Secure locking mechanism on gear selector cable and gate selector cable by pulling forward onto top (arrow -1-) and then turning to left to lock (arrow -2-).
- Set selector shaft as follows:
- Press selector shaft down (direction of arrow -1-).
- Turn right-angle piece -A- in direction of arrow -2- when pressing selector shaft down.
- Pull gear lever boot off center console upper part (arrows).
- Pull rubber noise damper toward gear lever.
- Set gear lever as follows:
- Select neutral with gear lever.
- Guide pin 110027 through hole -A- and into hole -B-.
- Turn locking mechanism on gear selector cable and gate selector cable to right onto stop (direction of arrow).
- Spring presses locking mechanism into normal position.
- Turn right-angled piece -A- back to original position (direction of arrow).
- Pull pin 110027 out of holes -A- and -B-.
- Insert rubber noise damper.
- Clip boot on to center console upper part.
Functional check
Gear lever must rest in 3rd/4th gear gate with transmission in neutral.
- Operate clutch.
- Select all gears several times. Pay attention to operation of reverse gear lock.
Should a gear fail to engage smoothly after repeated selection, the selector shaft play (lift) should be checked as follows:
- Engagelstgear.
- Press gear lever to left onto stop and release.
- At same time observe selector shaft in gear box (2nd mechanic).
- When moving the gear lever selector shaft must move approx. 1 mm (in direction of arrow).
- If not, adjust selector mechanism.
