Oil seal for right flanged shaft, replacing





Special tools and equipment
^ 3158 Drift sleeve
^ V.A.G. 1331 Torque wrench or equivalent
^ V.A.G. 1332 Torque wrench or equivalent

Removing
^ If installed, remove center and right part of insulation tray below engine/transmission.
^ Turn steering to right onto full lock stop.
^ Remove drive shaft.
^ Remove flanged shaft securing bolts by threading two bolts into flange and counterhold flanged shaft using a lever.
^ Place container under transmission
^ Remove flanged shaft with spring.
^ Pry seal out.





Installing
^ Drive new seal in onto stop, do not tile seal when doing this.
^ Fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with grease G52 128 A1.
^ Insert flanged shaft.
^ Secure flange shaft with countersunk bolt.
^ Install drive shaft.
^ Check transmission oil.
^ Install sound insulation tray.

Tightening torques
Flanged shaft to transmission (conical head bolt) 25 Nm
