Clutch slave cylinder, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment
^ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench
^ Filling and bleeding apparatus for brakes VAS 5234 brake filler and bleeder unit.
Removing
^ Check whether a coded radio is fitted. If so, obtain anti-theft coding.
^ With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground strap.
^ Place a sufficiently large lint-free cloth under clutch slave cylinder.
^ Fully remove retaining clip -A-, which secures pipe/hose, from slave cylinder.
^ Remove pipe/hose assembly from housing -C- in transmission.
^ Separate pipe/hose assembly -B- from cylinder and seal openings.
^ Remove screws from slave cylinder -arrows- and remove cylinder.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence. When installing note the following:
^ Lubricate end of plunger with lubricating grease MoS2
^ Screw clutch slave cylinder to transmission -arrows-.
^ Fit pipe/hose assembly -B- fully into slave cylinder.
^ Install clip -A-.
^ Press pipe/hose assembly into housing -C- in transmission.
^ After installing slave cylinder, bleed clutch system.
Tightening torques
Clutch slave cylinder to transmission 20 Nm
