Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, erasing
- Connect VAS5051 tester and select functions.
The following description refers to VAG 1551

Requirement
- DTC memory is checked; Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory, Checking

After DTC memory has been successfully checked:





Indicated on display
- Press keys O and 5 (05 selects function "Erase DTC memory").





Indicated on display
- Confirm entry with Q key.





Indicated on display
Adherence to the sequence of operations was not maintained. At first the DTC memory must be checked (read).

Note: If the ignition was switched off, e.g. between interrogating the fault memory and erasing fault memory, the fault memory is then not erased.





Indicated on display
(DTC memory will be erased approximately 5 sec. after display appears.)
The DTC memory is now erased.
- Wait about 1 minute before again checking DTC memory.





If the following display appears





Print out with printer switched on:
Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- was not given sufficient time to recognize DTC's.
- Wait about 1 minute before again checking DTC memory.
- After checking and erasing DTC memory, perform a test drive and again check DTC memory.





When checking the DTC memory the display must contain this message.
