Selector lever cable, checking and adjusting
Checking
- Move selector lever to position "P".
- Press selector lever cable -1- off selector shaft lever -3- with, for example, a 10 mm open end wrench -2-.
- Press locking devices on selector lever cable support mounting together (arrows) and pull selector lever cable out of transmission support mounting.
- Place selector lever cable away but ensure that end can still move freely.
Note: Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
- Move selector lever from "P" to "S".
- Check protective boot on front of selector lever cable for damage, replace cable if necessary.
- Move selector lever to position "P".
Selector mechanism and selector lever cable must move freely when doing this. If not, replace selector lever cable or service selector mechanism.
- Press selector lever cable carefully onto selector shaft lever and then into transmission support mounting.
Locking devices of selector lever cable must engage into support mounting.
Adjusting
- Move selector lever to position "P".
- Loosen bolt -2- on front ball socket of selector lever cable -1-.
- Move selector shaft lever -3- to position "P" on transmission.
- Locking lever must engage in park lock wheel, both front wheels blocked (cannot be turned together in one direction).
- Tighten bolt -2- to 13 Nm.
- Check selector mechanism.
